This is how women cope with their periods - Bustle.com

In a article by Janet Upadhye for Bustle.com, she discusses the stories of multiple women experiencing homelessness in New York City. You can find the article here.

Janet notes that 50,000 women in USA are living on the streets. In Canada, when the government conducted a "point-in-time" count of homelessness in 32 communities across the country, there were about 1,850 women identified as experiencing some form of homelessness. A point-in time count is a one-day snapshot of homelessness and has limitations in it's accuracy. It does show however, that in just one day of counting, about 1,850 women were identified. It can be expected that that number would only rise if the count was done over the course of a few days.

New York City has approved a program that makes it mandatory for public schools, jails and homeless shelters to provide free pads and tampons. Which is a move we can only hope more cities around the world will make very soon!
